On February 24, 2019, during the Ordinary Meeting No. 1407 of the Council of Delegates of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), General Guillermo Almazán Bertotto, Head of the Delegation of Mexico to the IADB, officially presented the of the pro-tempore Secretariat, of the historical documentary memory referring to the XIII Conference of Ministers of the Americas (CMDA), to General Stephen Lacroix, Director General of the IADB Secretariat, thus closing the cycle of activities inherent to this transcendental conference, which was held during October 2018 in Cancún, Mexico.
Likewise, General Luis Rodríguez Bucio, President of the Council of Delegates, reported on the receipt of a letter from the Minister of Defense of Chile, who informs this Board of having officially received, from the Secretariat of National Defense of Mexico, the functions related to the pro-tempore Secretariat of the XIV CMDA, thus assuming the responsibility of directing the 2019-2020 cycle. This conference is a multilateral political meeting of an international nature constituted by the Ministries of Defense and their equivalents of the Hemisphere, with the purpose of promoting mutual knowledge, analysis, debate and exchange of ideas and experiences in the fields of defense and security. .
At this Ordinary Meeting, the IADB Leadership recognized General Julio Rodolfo Macías Pereira, who during this month ceased as Head of the Delegation of Uruguay, giving him the IADB medal, a distinction that is conferred on the staff of this Organization in recognition of the services provided in contribution to the high tenets of its mission.
During his management at the head of the Uruguayan Delegation, General Julio Rodolfo Macías Pereira, fully offered his initiative and great experience to assist in the materialization of projects and activities of this Board, related to matters in the field of security and defense. of the Hemisphere.
