IPC – Initial Planning Conference for the MECODEX 2023 Fiscal Year

On October 5, 2022, the Initial Planning Conference (IPC – Initial Planning Conference) for the MECODEX 2023 Fiscal Year was held, with the participation of the Risk and Disaster Management Division (DGRD) of the Undersecretary of Advisory Services (SSA). of the General Secretariat of the IADB, the Delegation of Ecuador to the IADB, Officers of the Ecuadorian Armed Forces representing the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA), the Joint Military Defense Academy (ADEMIC) and the University of the Forces Armed Forces-ESPE (UFA-ESPE).

At the meeting, the results of the Concept Development Conference (CDC) were presented, as well as the outlines of the Exercise Plan. The presentations made by the CCFFAA, ADEMIC and UFA-ESPE served to level the knowledge of the participants about the development of the exercise and provide a more favorable environment for the continuity of the work.

Representatives of the Conference of the American Armies (CEA), the System of Cooperation of the American Air Forces (SICOFAA) and the Brazilian Army also participated in the meeting, who offered attendees a brief presentation of Operation Paraná III, a humanitarian assistance exercise, which highlighted best practices and lessons learned.

All information submitted will be processed and contributed to the Main Planning Conference (MPC) in December 2022.

The MECODEX 2023 exercise is scheduled for May 2023 in Ecuador, simulating a natural disaster in that country.
