JID receives visit from the National Defense College of Mexico

On May 8, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) received a visit from the National Defense College of Mexico – CODENAL, made up of 38 students (32 military and 6 civilians) on a study trip to Washington-DC

CODENAL is the higher military education institution of the Mexican Armed Forces, with the purpose of conducting postgraduate level studies, focused on security and national defense.

Led by Brigadier General Andrés Fernando Aguirre Osunza, Director of the College, accompanied by General Brigadier Israel Caro Rodríguez, Head of the Academic Section, the delegation was received at the Casa del Soldado by the Vice President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB, General of Brigade Néstor Zalazar Echauri (Paraguay), and by Group General José Rubén Montesinos (Mexico), Head of the Project Office of the IADB Secretariat.

During the visit, the students had the opportunity to learn more about the organization and main activities currently carried out within the framework of the Inter-American Defense Board. As a highlight, Captain Luciano Moraes (Brazil), Head of the Cyber Defense Section of the IADB, gave a conference on the topic “Cyber Defense and Hemispheric Cooperation”, in which the main activities carried out by the IADB in the sector, for the benefit of digital security in the American continent.
