Major General Reinaldo Salgado Beato, of the Brazilian Army, Director General of the IADB Secretariat, participated in a regular session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the election by acclamation of Ms. Ana Irene Delgado, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Mission of Panama to the OAS, who assumes the presidency of the Committee on Hemispheric Security (CSH) of said international entity.

General Salgado expressed to the Panamanian diplomat that all the men and women who comprise the IADB, along with its leadership, are available to collaborate in its management and strengthen efforts to promote hemispheric security and cooperation.

Likewise, Ambassador Delgado expressed her gratitude and thanked the Director General for accompanying her at such an important moment in her career. She also highlighted the importance of the IADB in working on the lines of action it promotes for the collective good of the OAS member states and promoting regional peace.

The main objective of the CSH is to promote dialogue, cooperation, and trust among member states in matters of multidimensional security, addressing both traditional and emerging threats, in order to contribute to peace, stability, and development in the Americas.

Also present were Colonel Mario Rivas Díaz of the Dominican Republic Air Force and Colonel Luis Tolmos Valdivia of the Peruvian Air Force, both IADB liaison officers to the OAS.
