The Inter-American Defense Board and CICTE join forces to strengthen maritime security in the Americas

In an important meeting held on February 20, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) received at the Casa del Soldado (Washington, DC) Ms. Lisbeth Laurie, Manager of the Maritime Security Program of the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE). ) of the Organization of American States (OAS). The event represented an important step forward in the collaboration between both organizations to promote a safer maritime environment on the American continent.

During the meeting, the initiatives of the CICTE program were presented, highlighting the organization's permanent commitment to combat threats to maritime security and support member states in the development of their security strategies in this area. In response, the IADB presented its Maritime Safety Program, which includes key products currently in development, such as the Safe Seas application and the Maritime Safety Good Practices Guide. These products represent the IADB's continued efforts to provide effective tools and practical solutions to address maritime security challenges in the Americas.

The meeting represented a valuable opportunity to discuss the development of a joint work plan aimed at strengthening actions that contribute to maintaining a safe maritime environment in the Americas, in addition to symbolizing the establishment of an unprecedented collaborative effort between the IADB and the CICTE, who join forces in order to expand the scope and impact of their respective actions and initiatives in the region. The joint work plan will serve as a solid foundation for future initiatives, ensuring that the strategies and actions implemented are cohesive, comprehensive and, above all, effective in combating threats to maritime security.
