IADB leadership visits Secretary Luis Almagro in Casa das Américas

On January 11, the leadership of the Inter-American Defense Board had the honor of visiting, at Casa de las Américas, Mr. Luis Almagro (Uruguay), Secretary General of the OAS, in a meeting that contributed to strengthening civic relations. military and the ties of friendship that unite the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) and the Organization of American States (OAS).

On the occasion, after the formal greetings, General Marco Antonio Álvarez Reyes (Mexico), President of the Council of Delegates of the Board, highlighted the faithful commitment of the IADB to fulfilling the mandates of the OAS, basing its objectives on the four fundamental pillars of the Organization - democracy, human rights, security and development -, while highlighting the close collaboration established with the OAS Hemispheric Security Commission, as well as with international organizations that work in the area of security and defense , including the Councils of Chiefs of the Armed Forces and Educational Organizations.

In his speech, Brigadier Flávio Luiz de Oliveira Pinto (Brazil), Director General of the Secretariat, highlighted the fruitful work carried out in alliance with the OAS Secretariat for Multidimensional Security, reiterating his continued willingness to work to consolidate the Board as a valuable Military and Educational Technical Advisory Body of the Organization in aspects related to the Security and Defense of the Hemisphere.

Finally, General Richard Heitkamp (USA), Director of the Inter-American Defense College (CID), emphasized the College's commitment to the precepts and guidelines issued by the OAS, also highlighting the work of integration of the Caribbean countries in Defense training.

Secretary Luis Almagro thanked the visit, recognizing the beautiful work carried out by the members of the Casa del Soldado in coordination with the OAS, also mentioning the convenience of making a visit to the IADB, by establishing a meeting with the agencies of the IADB. OAS to work on issues of common interest.
