On March 29, the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) received the visit of the Minister of Defense of Uruguay, Javier García, accompanied by the Ambassador of Uruguay to the United States, Andrés Durán and the Chief of the Defense Staff, General of the Air Rodolfo Pereyra.
On the occasion, the visitors followed a brief presentation on the structure and main activities currently carried out within the framework of the Inter-American Defense Board, in the technical and academic areas, in support of the defense and security actions of the countries of the hemisphere, such as disaster prevention, cybersecurity, humanitarian demining, environmental protection, combating transnational crimes and maritime security.
The meeting represented an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties between the members of the IADB and the representatives of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, an important South American country that holds the status of founding member of the Inter-American Defense Board and the Organization of American States. . (OAS).
At Casa do Soldado, the visitors were received by Vice Admiral Alexandre Rabello de Faria (Brazil), President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB, Brigadier General Porfirio Fuentes Vélez (Mexico), Director General of the Secretariat, and Major General James E. Taylor (United States), Director of the Inter-American Defense College.
