On October 2, the Military Engineers Day ceremony was held at the Engineer Command of the National Army of the Republic of Colombia, in the city of Bogotá.
The members of the Group of Inter-American Technical Advisors in Colombia (GATI-CO), Major Aminthas Floriano da Silva Neto (Brazilian Army) and the Lieutenant Commander Marine Vinicius Castro de Oliveira (Brazilian Navy), received the military medal for Demining “Professional Soldier Wilson de Jesús Martinez Jabara”.
The decoration awarded to the Officers aims to stimulate, recognize and exalt the work of civilians and military personnel in demining activities and contribute to the fulfillment of the commitments in favor of a territory free of antipersonnel mines, improvised explosive devices and unexploded munitions. .
GATI-CO has been fulfilling its mission in Colombia since 2015, advising the General Command of the Colombian Military Forces on humanitarian demining issues.
