On November 5, 2018, at the site occupied by the Canadian Embassy in the United States, General Stephen Lacroix, General Director of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), participated in the Discussion Panel on Climate Change and its Resilience in the Americas. He was accompanied at this event by the Advisor of the Hemispheric Situation Section of the Information Analysis and Monitoring Division of the IADB. The host of this event was the Ambassador of the Canadian Permanent Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS), HE Jennifer Loten.
The distinguished panelists were the Former President of Costa Rica, HE José María Figueres, the Canadian Ambassador on Climate Change, HE Patricia Fuller, as well as the Executive Director for Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago at the Inter-American Bank of Development, SE Selvin Hart.
The central topic was prevention measures against greenhouse gas emissions that affect the warming of the oceans. The ultimate goal is to prevent an increase in ocean temperatures to avoid the gradual destruction of habitable coastal areas and reduce large-scale natural disasters.
