On November 17, 2022, the passing of command of the Inter-American Monitor Group of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB) took place. During the ceremony, which took place in the city of Bogotá in Colombia, Brazilian Army Colonel CLEBER MACHADO ARRUDA handed over the leadership of the Group to the Captain, Marine, of the Brazilian Navy, LEONEL MARIANO DA SILVA JUNIOR.
The ceremony was presided over by the Director General of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), Brigadier General PORFIRIO SOURCES VÉLEZ, of the Mexican Army, and was attended by various civil and military authorities, among them Mr. ALEJANDRO GARCÍA MORENO ELIOZONDO, Ambassador of Mexico in Colombia; Mr. LUIS GUILHERME NASCENTES DA SILVA, Chargé d'Affaires of the Brazilian Embassy in Colombia; Mrs. MARIANY MONROY, Coordinator of the Comprehensive Action against Antipersonnel Mines of the National Authority of Colombia; Mr. SéRGIO ANTONIO PEREZ MUNAR, Representative of the AICMA-CO Program; and Colonel of the Colombian Army JHON FREDY CORREA GONZÁLEZ, Commander of the Colombian Humanitarian Demining Engineer Brigade.
At the end of the ceremony, Colonel CLEBER received the IADB medal with two gold stars and the OAS medal at the end of his mission, and Captain LEONEL received the IADB insignia, which is awarded to the entire personnel who serve in the Bodies of this International Organization.
