Weapons Management Seminar-Workshop

The Defense and Security Division of the Inter-American Defense Board, in cooperation with the Department of Public Security of the OAS, through its Assistance Program for the Control of Arms and Ammunition (PACAM), held the Arms Management Seminar-Workshop on October 2, 2025, with the central theme: "Good Practices and Support Tools for Weapons and Ammunition Management«.

Mr. José Carmona Sandoval, TNNV-IM Analyst at the Inter-American Defense College, moderated this event, which included the following speakers:

Ms. Janaina Homerin – Specialist in the Regional Context of Cooperation and Assistance (OAS), who presented: “Inter-American Framework to Prevent and Combat the Illicit Arms Trade”

Mr. Theò Bajon – UNIDIR Research Associate, who spoke on: “Introduction to the Global Framework for the Whole Life Cycle Management of Conventional Ammunition”

Mr. Javier García Jiménez – Technical Advisor to the Ammunition Management Advisory Team, GICHD-UNODA, who presented: “Ammunition Safety in the Global Framework and United Nations Tools for Weapons and Ammunition Management.”

EMT Frigate Captain Jhennky Álvarez Chamba – Ecuadorian Navy, who spoke on: "Good practices in ammunition management procedures in Ecuador, and their application at the regional level."

Ms. Patricia García – PACAM Information Management Officer and Mr. Juan Carlos Melgar – PACAM Project Officer who presented on: “Inventory Control Software and Transfer System: PACAM Tools for Weapons and Ammunition Management”

Attorney Nadia Bermúdez – Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Public Security of Costa Rica, who presented: “Costa Rica’s ContolPas Tool for Weapons and Ammunition Management”

There were 7,856 registrants, with the following countries having the largest number of attendees:
