The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), on September 17, was visited by students and teachers from the Brazilian Naval War College (EGN). The activity was part of the Maritime Policy and Strategy Course (C-PEM) program and was intended to provide an overview of the security of the American continent.
Thus, the President of the Council of Delegates, General Luciano José Penna Division, presented a panel on the structure and organization of the IADB; and the Counselor of the Brazilian Representation before the Organization of American States (OAS), Mr. Eloi Ritter Filho, on this occasion on behalf of Ambassador Fernando Simas Magalhães, discussed the functioning of the OAS and Brazil's role in this international organization.
Also present at the presentations were the Vice President of the Council of Delegates, the Brigadier General Carlos Humberto Castañeda Nassi, Head of the IADB Representation of Brazil, Rear Admiral Nelson Nunes da Rosa, Director of EGN, Rear Admiral Edgar Luiz Siqueira Barbosa and Brazilian naval attaché in the US and Canada, Rear Admiral Amaury Calheiros Boite Junior.
The C-PEM lasts for one school year and is imbued with the application of high-level maritime planning systems to enable the Student Officers (OAs) to adequately analyze the current Force arrangements and the future needs of the Navy to comply with the national defense.
