The mission of the Inter-American Technical Advisory Group in Colombia (GATI-CO) is to train military personnel in Humanitarian Demining Operations in Colombia, according to the needs of the General Command of the Military Forces (CGFM). With this objective, during the period from March 16 to April 17, 2020, the Group has conducted the first Humanitarian Demining Quality Management Course for Brazilian military personnel, members of the Mission of Instructors and Advisors in Humanitarian Demining (MIADH). ), an Agreement between the Ministries of Defense of Colombia and Brazil, which work in the Humanitarian Demining Battalions of the Humanitarian Demining Brigade (BRDEH) and the International Demining Center (CIDES). 12 soldiers were trained, being: 10 soldiers from the Brazilian Army (08 Officers and 02 Non-Commissioned Officers) and 02 soldiers from the Marine Corps of the Brazilian Navy (02 Non-Commissioned Officers). Due to the problem of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Humanitarian Demining Quality Management Course was changed from in-person class to virtual class, with authorization from the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace (OACP), National Authority on Demining matters. Humanitarian, and had the support of the instructions of Descontamina Colombia/OACP, the BRDEH and the OAS Action Against Antipersonnel Mines Program (AICMA-CO). The conclusion of the course made it possible for the Brazilian military to be accredited by the National Authority, in order to carry out their work in Colombia. Since 2015, when it began its activities in the country, to date GATI-CO has trained 185 people from the Colombian Military Forces, the National Humanitarian Demining Authority and the Brazilian military, with 14 courses held, including: 13 Courses for National Humanitarian Demining Monitors and 01 Humanitarian Demining Quality Management Course.
