The Inter-American Defense Board (IADB), represented by the President and Vice President of the Council of Delegates and Director General of the IADB Secretariat, respectively, Major General Luciano José Penna, Brigadier General Carlos Humberto Castañeda Nassi and Brigadier General Juan José Gómez Ruiz, participated in the opening of the Conference of American Armies (CEA) – Cycle XXXIV. The activity took place on May 14, by videoconference, and brought together the Commanders of the Armies of Argentina and Uruguay, the Brigadier General Agustín Humberto Cejas and the Army General Gerardo Daniel Fregossi Álvarez, respectively, as well as representatives of the armies of several countries on the American continent.
During the event, the lessons learned by the armies during actions to combat COVID-19 were discussed. The participation of the IADB in this activity reaffirms its will as a multilateral organization to support its member countries.
The CEA was created in 1960, with the objective of becoming a debate forum for the exchange of experiences between the armies of the American continent. The current cycle is carried out by Argentina.
