In a meeting held on May 22, in the historic facilities of the Casa del Soldado, in Washington-DC, the Inter-American Defense Board and the National School for Training and Improvement of Military Justice Magistrates of Brazil (ENAJUM) signed a new and modern cooperation agreement.
The main objective of the instrument is to establish, through a comprehensive document, the bases of collaboration between institutions, in order to promote and carry out academic and cultural exchange activities of mutual interest, such as seminars, debates, research, studies, joint publications, courses, teaching cooperation, among others.
With more than 200 years, the Military Justice of the Union is the oldest in Brazil and an important part of the country's Judicial System, with the mission of prosecuting and judging military crimes defined by law, in order to contribute to the promotion of Justice.
The signing of documents of this type, at the highest level, contributes decisively to strengthening the traditional ties of cooperation and friendship that unite the IADB with the countries of the American continent, for the benefit of hemispheric trust and security.
The agreement between the institutions was signed by Brigadier General DEM Porfirio Fuentes Vélez, General Director of the Secretariat of the Inter-American Defense Board, and Minister Artur Vidigal de Oliveira, Director of ENAJUM.
Also honoring the event were Lieutenant Brigadier Francisco Joseli Parente Camelo, Minister President of the Superior Military Court of Brazil (STM); Admiral Leonardo Puntel, Minister of the STM; and Vice Admiral Alexandre Rabello de Faria, President of the Council of Delegates of the IADB, as well as judges and other civil and military authorities.
